It is during this time that she became a member of Thapong visual art Centre where she partook in various artist exhibitions.   ‘I created art as a mean of making extra money to cushion the burden on my parents of helping me out. It was difficult sometimes being a student relying on student allowance while having to pay rent, transport, and other basic needs. My parents weren’t always able to cushion other needs and luxuries so I was always looking to make extra cash’  Although Refilwe pursued art initially as a way of making extra money she soon began to grow a passion for impactful art.

Through the pressures of wanting to belong so as to be recognized by the masses, I managed to stay grounded to my true self",  said Sativa.  "I keep a very small circle of friends which results to me spending a lot of time on my own, This made me listen to music a lot and singing along, A lot of times I would find myself singing and I realized that I have something amazing that could be nurtured. That is when my music journey started. Singing embraces the shy part of me as I am able to express myself fully without fear."  Sativa has a song called Easy ft a local artist Priscilla K that has been on the local radio stations airwaves.
